Ok, we’ve heard (and said) it 100 times about direct selling companies.
“(INSERT COMPANY NAME HERE) is a personal development company with great products and a compensation plan.”
Do you believe that?
Personally, I don’t think there is any question that people join direct selling companies because of what they can EARN but, stay because of what they can BECOME.
I’ve seen it too many times to question it.
Look at companies like Amway, Herbalife, A C N, Primerica, MonaVie, Pre-Paid Legal Services, Mary Kay, Vemma, Ignite, Send Out Cards, Team National and many more. Check out the success and growth each of these companies has had over the years.
All different companies — different products — different compensation plans.
But, they ALL have a very strong culture of providing and reinforcing personal growth with their distributors.
Coincidence?
What can you do to make your field believe they can become more?
Step 1 — Buy in to it yourself!
Just like every aspect of your business, the desire to provide personal development has to be genuine.
It has to be real.
It has to be because YOU believe in personal development (PD) and that people deserve to grow and become more.
As the believer in PD, you have to promote it, discuss it and live it.
Show your organization YOU are a part of the PD culture and the field will follow you. Create a community of PD within your own organization.
I know it works. Several of our clients are using SUCCESS magazine and other SUCCESS products to help build growth and retention in their field.
(NOTE: VideoPlus owns SUCCESS magazine, success.com, Jim Rohn International and YourSuccessStore.com. I’m a HUGE fan so I’m proud to mention them)
PD works because the corporate leadership is part of the process. Not a bystander waiting for PD to happen.
In what will sound like a blatant promo, (and I promise not to do this unless it has REAL value) I have to brag about Darren Hardy’s new book, The Compound Effect.
(available soon at www.success.com or www.thecompoundeffect.com)
Darren is the Publisher of SUCCESS magazine and really knows his stuff.
His new book takes the best-of-the-best practices that Darren has learned over the past couple of decades and puts it into words everyone can understand AND DO!!
That’s what is missing from most PD messages and leadership – the guidance and step-by-step approach to actually applying it.
It’s what is missing from many companies’ approach to PD.
Darren nails it!!
The Compound Effect explains how taking little steps toward your goal, then repeating and adding to them day after day, will yield huge results. Just like money “compounds” in the bank, positive repeatable steps will “compound” your efforts and create dramatic changes in your life.
He actually makes it sound simple and makes it feel like “I can do it”.
That’s not a surprise to me – just refreshing. I’ve seen Darren speak to a crowd of almost 20,000 people and have it so quiet you could hear a pin drop. People taking notes and absorbing ideas they can put into action immediately.
Powerful!
People are starving for info that can make a REAL difference in their lives.
Take the steps — determine what you can / will provide and make it a part of your culture.
Then, like everything in your communication efforts – let it evolve and grow over time. It’s an effort that will pay huge dividends to your field. Your business will almost surely grow with the efforts.
